The Veteran Affairs Department offers VA Dependent Benefits to veteran’s family. If an individual is a spouse, surviving spouse, child, or surviving child, then there is a monthly payment for such family member of an ex-service member. The VA Dependent Benefits cover Education, home Subsidy and Loans, Health Care and Disability Payments, Life Insurance Coverage and Burial and other memorial Services to eligible survivors. If veterans receive a discharge from service on other grounds than dishonourable, then they are offered several kinds of benefits and monthly payments. The VA Dependent Benefit is one of them accessible to dependents and survivors.
What are VA Dependent Benefits?
Individual citizens of the US may have served in the forces including Marine, Navy, Air, Coastal, Special and Army. While serving the country, it is quite common that they have developed some disability or deterioration of pre-existing disability. When service-related issues contribute to making current physical, mental, or psychological health severe and eventually disability, then the Department of Veteran Affairs provides VA Payments. Along with veterans, their surviving family members including parents, children, spouses, and dependents receive monthly benefits. The disability is measured on a rating scale ranging from 10% to 100%.
Individuals and their dependents do not have any benefits if the disability percentage is 10% or 20%. If the disability is 30% higher than this, then the VA Benefits and Dependent Benefits are provided. The disability condition is also reviewed based on improvement or decline in health. There are health insurance and education programs for the dependents. The Chapter 35 offers education benefits to the survivors and dependents of veterans. For surviving spouses, there is a home loan program so that the spouses can afford to have, build, buy, or renovate houses. There is lifetime health insurance coverage for the surviving spouse of a veteran and it comes as VA Dependent Benefit.
